Combourg

Yesterday, I experienced the marvelous town of Combourg! You see, even though my school is situated in Comourg, I have never had the chance to see the quaint little town up close and personal. Sure, I've glimpsed it through the windows of a bus, but that's not quite the same. But finally on Sunday, after a delicious lunch at my friend Morganne's house (that's right, I have friends!) the two of us decided to wander about the city - and man was it a blast!

Combourg:
First, we traversed the shopping areas. Even though all the stores were closed (everything is closed on Sundays) it was extremely engaging because all the buildings are made of ancient stone in authentic medieval fashion. There were even turrets!

See the Château in the backround?

Morganne and I striking some super sexy poses...

Unfortunately, the Château has heavily restricted visiting hours,
so we couldn't tour the inside. But we got some great shots of the exterior!

There is also a statue of Chateaubriand (a famous author, also the namesake of my shcool)
right in front of the Château. I just couldn't ignore a chance to twin with it!

May I present the Combourg forest! I know, it's so very
different from any other forest you have ever seen...

These trees are very common in Combourg (and Hédé)
I actually crack up every time I see this type of tree. I feel like I'm in the Lorax by Dr. Seuss.
Don't even try to tell me you don't see the resemblance!

Finally, we wandered around the residential section of Combourg.

Fun story:
While walking around Combourg, Morganne and I stopped by a local grocery to grab some pears. The entrance of this certain grocery was a vacant little hallway and obviously, I took this chance to do a silly little dance while entering. Laughing, Morganne pointed out that there were security cameras in the hallway. I laughed and reassured her that no one looks at security footage unless a crime has been committed, and even if people did look, it would be no skin off our noses because we would be long gone and dancing somewhere else! Later, while we were buying fruit, I noticed that the people queueing up at the register were giving me some funny looks. Nevertheless, after we had paied and returned to the deserted hallway, I commenced my dancing again. Midway through a breathtaking pirohoutte, I spotted the cashier standing curiously in the doorway watching my little show! Turns out things work a little differently in France... Apparantly the security footage is displayed on a large screen above the checkout and watched constantly by the cashier - and the entire store. So basically, everyone in the grocery had seen me doo-whopping and cartwheeling as we entered and left! Fabulous... Needless to say, we had a good laugh.

  1. Lorax trees!!! I love it. What a charming place, I love that chateau! It's so crazy there are just random gorgeous chateaux around. How kind of you to entertain the entire store! C'est la vie
