Marché

This morning was CRAZY! Why? Because we went to the market. Now, you may not think of a market being super-dee-duper-dee awesome, but if you've ever been to the market in Rennes, you would definitely feel different. In order to get to the market in time for the good grub, we had to wake up at 8:30 and leave the house by 9:00 (early by French standards), but let me tell you, it was worth it! But then again, why tell you about the market when I could show you? (Quick shout out to Alessandra! My camera died halfway through the market, so I have used quite a few of her images. If you see one you like, it's probably from her camera!)

Delectable Morcels of Food!

After wandering around the Marché for a while
(buying fresh clementines, shrimp, oysters, carrots... No big deal, it was only really awesome),
We stopped at this stand to gobble down some
traditional Brittany Galettes, complete with sausage and ketchup!

Aside from the fruit, meat, and cheese stands,
there was also a mouthwatering sweets shop... It was painful to look!

(This right here is ALL chocolate!!)

At said delicious sweets shop, we purchased what is called a "kouign-amann", a traditional butter cake from Brittany. Needless to say, it was delectable!

Jaw-dropping Places:

Beautiful old buildings and streets!

L'Hôtel de Ville

The Opera House of Rennes:

And some Graffiti for good measure!

A Chinese Parade:
While walking back to the car, we happened upon a Chinese parade/street fest!

At one stand in the Festival, there were students doing traditional Chinese caligraphy for free!
They gave me the Chinese symbol for "bonheur" or "happiness/good humor"

Of course, after a day like this, there is no way that I could NOT be in a good mood!
